Growth hormone secretagogues (GHS) stimulate the pituitary gland to release growth hormone (GH). Unlike exogenous GH, secretagogues work through natural feedback mechanisms, resulting in pulsatile GH release.
Ipamorelin is a selective GH secretagogue. It stimulates GH release with minimal effect on cortisol, prolactin, or appetite, making it widely used in research.
GHRP-2 is more potent but less selective. It produces stronger GH release but also increases cortisol and prolactin. It has a significant effect on appetite stimulation.
GHRP-6 is similar to GHRP-2 but with an even stronger appetite-stimulating effect via ghrelin receptor activation.
These peptides are often studied in combination with GHRH analogs like CJC-1295, as the combination produces synergistic effects on total GH output.
